Music vs. Music Awards
I know there is a place for recognition of great artists and their performances, but instead of watching the universally panned AMA show last night, I got to see Adrianne in a perfect venue at SPACE.
Here is a video from her 'red couch sessions'...

been a while...
...this sums up why....
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

crosscut saw
always amazed at how many songs by old blues guys get misattributed to contemporary performers...listening to a mid-day thing on XM that is featuring (so far) at least 12 different versions of the song 'Crosscut Saw'...clapton, albert king, stevie ray, and a bunch of folks i don't recognize. made me curious about who wrote it so i got on 'the google' - to quote our soon to be ex-prez (yippee!) - and found out that it was written by one r.g. ford. ten more minutes of googlin' - to say it like the thankfully unelected VP moron - revealed absolutely nothing about the guy/gal. nothing. and i'm pretty good at this...so if anybody knows, leave me a comment about this mysterious writer of a blues classic!
Say it ain't so!!!!???? WTF??????
as i sit drinking an Intelligentsia Black Cat Classic, i hear the gentle wafting of Christmas-freakin'-music...i'll be sick of it by Thanksgiving!!! what the hell is wrong with us????

JT 'Covers'
mentioned James Taylor's "covers" CD the other day since my pal Troy Johnson has a tune that he penned featured on it...well, the rest of the thing is great too! he has always had a way of connecting with a song that makes it seem like he wrote it. very true here. and his version of 'roadrunner' - the classic junior walker tune - is awesome...taking me back to the days of listening to CKLW out of detroit that made me certain i was destined to be a soul-man....hahahahaha
